RIBA Wessex with Alan Vallance

Tom Bell of RIBA Gloucestershire represented the County at the RIBA Wessex Regional Meeting on the 20th October at Alec French Architects in Bristol.

The meeting was attended by respective branch chairs across the Region, Jon Watkins RIBA Regional Director and recently appointed RIBA Chief Executive Alan Vallance.

Alan provided attendees with his background and passion for why he joined the RIBA, outlined the RIBA structure and strategy ‘Advancing Architecture’, and how he sees the RIBA as the gold standard of the profession, nationally and internationally.

Rebecca Ridge was also appointed as the RIBA Wessex Chair, taking over the role from Giles Vallis who now becomes the RIBA Wessex Immediate Past Chair.

The Regional meeting was followed by the RIBA Wessex Annual Open Meeting 2016 at City Hall, Bristol, where we were joined by Councillor Paul Smith, Cabinet Member for Homes at Bristol City Council, who addressed attendees alongside Alan Vallance. The evening was concluded with a tour of the recently refurbished City Hall completed by Alec French Architects.
